Going on a picnic to your local beauty spot
The summer has arrived, the skies are blue, the sun is shining, the weather forecast is awesome and you decide you are going on a day trip to your local beauty spot and you are going to take a picnic. Think about how far you will need to travel, are you going by car or public transport? Is the location close enough to walk to or maybe you plan to bicycle there? Once you’ve decided where you are going and how you are getting there the next and probably more important decision is, what will you take on you picnic? If you are going alone, it’s easy because you only have to think about what you like to eat but if you’re going with others then think about their preferences as well.
Once all those decisions have been made then it’s time to prepare the food, keeping perishable items cold and fresh is top priority. Think about getting advice from Food Safety Consultants or a trusted family member or friend. Using ice bags, cold boxes and containers is a great way to transport your food safely. Pack a basket with cutlery, plates, napkins, cups, drinks and wet wipes and a blanket of course and make sure you take this alongside your cold boxes containing your food.
Once you’ve arrived at your chosen destination, spread your blanket out on the floor and unpack your bags and boxes, now enjoy!
