The perfect scene

For those who are looking for sea views and are drawn to the romance of history, Portsmouth’s historic dockyard provides a great setting for a wedding. You can have your event on board Henry VIII’s flagship, The Mary Rose, or perhaps you’d prefer the pride of Queen Victoria’s fleet, HMS Warrior 1860.

The beautiful city of Winchester, with its historic buildings, is also a good choice, especially for those who want a traditional wedding. After all, its biggest landmark is the incredible Winchester cathedral, one of the largest cathedrals in Europe.

For motor enthusiasts, how about Beaulieu’s National Motor Museum or the Montagu’s home, Palace House?

Couples looking for a more tranquil setting might look to the Meon valley in East Hampshire. The rolling chalk hills of the South Downs, wooded valleys and clear chalk streams will take your breath away. The romantic Chawton House, which is owned by Jane Austen’s brother and where she spent much of her time, is available for weddings. The impressive drive, beautiful grounds in which you could have a marquee, and the Great Hall would look amazing in photographs. You could chat to a wedding photographer in Hampshire such as http://www.lemontree-photography.co.uk/ about how to get the best out of this or any of the special settings.

Great hotels

Some couples prefer a hotel venue for their special day because the whole event can take place in one setting, and guests can all stay overnight or even longer. Hampshire has many popular hotel wedding venues to cater for all needs, such as The Master Builders House Hotel in Beaulieu with river views or New Park Manor in Brockenhurst, which is a family-friendly venue in the peaceful New Forest.

Spa hotels are very popular, such as Chewton Glen or Lime Wood, which were included in the Telegraph’s feature on the top ten spa hotels.

Perhaps the natural beauty of The New Forest would appeal to some couples. With miles of ancient woodland, places such as Woodland Weddings can arrange a woodland blessing in addition to an indoor or outdoor official ceremony. The famous wild ponies might even pose as extra guests in the photographs!
