How to shop for a dress shirt
When you’re in the market for a dress shirt for a formal event, where do you start? This can be a minefield, especially if you’ve never purchased one before. A quality formal shirt should have buttons right up to the top with a collar, long sleeves and wrist cuffs. They range from fairly formal to very formal, the difference being whether they button up or down!
A dress shirt is an important part of a man’s wardrobe, whether it’s for work, meetings or special events. Choosing the right one is important as it:
Frames your body shape
Has unique designs that incorporate different fit preferences
Has a range of pricing options
Comes in a variety of different colours
There are tuxedo dress shirts, Oxford shirts, Button Down Collar shirts and Slim Fit dress shirts. Think about the purpose for wearing your shirt and this should help to narrow down which types to look at. For shirts and Calvin Klein Menswear, visit Louis Boyd
How to tell the difference between a dress shirt and a casual shirt:
Dress shirts are almost always plain white or another plain colour whereas casual shirts can be striped or patterned. A dress shirt will have a rigid collar but a casual shirt will be less structured and possibly have no collar at all. A dress shirt is almost always worn with a tie of some sort and has cuffs. A casual shirt can be worn with no tie. A casual shirt will also have no tail as they are designed to be worn untucked whereas a dress shirt will be made from fine fabric and have a tail.
