Cheltenham Race Course and the Centaur
Cheltenham racecourse is synonymous with prestigious racing events and several jump racing festivals are held there culminating in “The Cheltenham gold Cup”. Racing punters travel from all over the Wold and thousands of excitable Irishmen and women descend on Cheltenham town to spend the Festivals four days drinking, gambling and having a fantastic time. March is the busiest time of the year in the racing calendar, from the Arkle Challenge Trophy, the Festival Trophy, The National Hunt Chase Challenge Cup, the Supreme Novices Hurdle and The Queen Mother Champion Chase altogether there are over twenty-seven races. With the capacity to hold 67,500 spectators Cheltenham can be filled to bursting point on race days.
The Centaur was the home of The Greenbelt festival from 1999 – 2013 and is still the popular venue for The Wychwood Music Festival. Winter Weddings, Summer Balls, Charity Fayres and exhibitions.
