Cannon Hill Park

With a bowling green, tennis courts and even a mini golf course, Cannon Hill Park is a great place to spend the weekend. You can hire a pedalo and relax on the lake during the summer; alternatively, have fun at the mini funfair if the weather is agreeable. There is plenty of space for walks and keeping fit, with both a 5k and 2k route mapped out.

Winterbourne House

Built in 1903, Winterbourne House and Garden was the home of Industrialist John Nettlefold and his family. Offering a glimpse into Edwardian life, the exhibition rooms are a stunning example of the period. Open for the public to explore seven days a week, there is also a tea room where you can sit and enjoy afternoon tea or lunch.

Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens

A showcase of 18th century splendour, the house is set in a wonderful 10 acres of walled gardens. It is beautifully restored and the gardens are an oasis of calm and tranquillity. Explore the holly maze, sample the delights of the cafe and browse the gift shop.

Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Glasshouses

Set in Edgbaston, a beautiful suburb, this is a sheer delight where visitors can experience nature at its very best while immersing themselves in the world of plants and their vital importance. The Botanical Gardens were designed by J C Loudon, a leading garden planner of the time, and opened in 1832 to subscribers.

Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre

With a boating lake, a Victorian walled garden and stunning woodland, this organically-managed study centre is a real gem. The former home of George Cadbury, the famous chocolatier and Quaker, the area beyond the lake is designated as a site of importance for nature conservation (SINC).

St George’s Park

The Staffordshire countryside is the setting for the FA’s National Football Centre, home to the 24 national football teams. Sample the many facilities on offer, from the leadership centre to the linear ropes course, climbing tower and range of team exercises, not forgetting the football centre itself.
