Use your phone or tablet as an extra screen on your computer
Those of us who spend most of the day in front of our computer, many times we look to the side and see our phone or tablet lying idle. Splashtop Wired XDisplay is an application that seeks to remedy it, using our mobile devices to extend the screen of our computer.
Remember Duet Display a lot, although the good thing about this tool is that it is compatible with Android, iOS and some Kindle devices. In addition, it works on Windows, macOS and Linux.
To begin, we will have to download the application for Windows or macOS. The version for Linux is in beta , and we will have to download it . All these applications are free.
The next thing will be to download the application for the device that we want to use as a secondary screen. There is an application for Android, iOS and Kindle devices. Here, the prices branch a little:
- Android : There is a free trial version (10 minutes) and we will have to pay 7.74 dollars for the full version.
- iPhone : It costs $ 2.99. Currently it is on offer , since it usually costs $ 9.99.
- iPad : The same thing happens with the iPhone version. It’s on offer at $ 6.99, since we would normally have to pay 19.99.
- Kindle : From the Amazon app store we can download the application for Kindle devices, at a price of $ 6.99.
Once we have downloaded the application on our computer and on the mobile device, we will connect our smartphone or tablet using the USB cable . In the case of Android we recommend having USB debugging enabled.
It is a good solution for those who already have a mobile device and want to save money to buy a second monitor (especially in the case of having a tablet). The possible uses are endless: always have Tweetdeck in view, Telegram open while you play Hearthstone, a concert while you write a text, etc.
